The John Raitt Awards for Youth

Who We Are
The JRAY Program operates under the umbrella organization of Fullerton Civic Light Opera Music Theatre (FCLO), under the direction of General Manager, Griff Duncan. FCLO was established 40 years ago and is a nonprofit association.

FCLO is a member of the National Alliance of Musical Theatre Association and has been invited to participate in a nation-wide competition sponsored by the Nederlander Family. The annual NHSMTA was held on June 25, 2012. The winners (best actor and best actress) are eligible to receive 4-year scholarships to NYU Tisch School of the Arts Department of Drama and were also each awarded $10,000 cash prizes provided by the Nederlander Organization. Runners up each receive $2500.

Courtney Cotter – Professional Stage Manager for Disneyland
Bob Curley – Educator/Principal in the Irvine School District
Karin Godfrey – 30+ years adjudicating musicals and officially JRAY Ambassador
Diana Gordon – Professional Actress
Gary Gordon – Professional Actor/Director
David MacInnis – FCLO Board Member, 20+ years theatre experience
Eydie MacInnis – Professional Choreographer
Matthew J. Schwartz – Technical background including Set Construction and Execution, Prop Design and Construction, Specialties Construction, Marketing, Advertising and Design
Susan Takeda – Costumer and Props

  1. I performed my first summer stock musical at Melody Top Theater in Milwaukee Wis with John Raitt in Oklahoma. Would be interested in finding out more what you do as I have students that are in the musical theater world.

    • This is a high school “Tony Awards” program. Our judges go to high schools enrolled in the program and adjudicate the shows. Our annual event is April 28 this year in Fullerton Ca. Best\Female and Male actors are sent to New York to compete for national title.scholarship. go to our web site(fclo.com) and it will tell you all about it. Where do you live? {Perhaps there is a similar program in your area. We have a list of them all.
